The
New "It's Cool™" Drive Showers from Rex Marine
The new "It's
Cool™" Drive Showers for Bravo 1 & Bravo 3 drives from
Rex Marine not only look Cool, they "actually do cool"
your drive unit better than any other covered shrouded type drive shower.
Most all
Drive Showers can spray water on the top cap of your drive. That's the
easy part. But if they don't cool the sides of your drive you're only
getting about half the potential cooling benefit of having a drive shower.
About 50% of the heat is actually pulled off the sides of the drive, not
the top cap.
The
Rex Marine It's Cool™ Drive Showers are specifically designed to
lay a sheet of water down the sides of the drive, even at
low pressure sometimes encountered with high trim angles. Most other models
rely on splash and the majority of water blows off the top cap out into
the lake without ever contacting the sides of the drive.

|
It's
Cool™ Single Pickup Drive Shower @ 10 lbs. of pressure
Notice it still has a solid sheet of water down the side of the drive
even at this very low pressure delivery. In testing we never saw under
about 14 pounds on any of our test boats even at maximum up trim angle. |
It's
Cool™ Dual Pickup Drive
Shower @ 10 lbs. of pressure
The dual pickup delivers twice the flow of water down the side of the
drive even at this very low pressure delivery. We recommend the Dual model
for extreme applications running high trim angles for extended periods. |
|
|
It's
Cool™ Single Pickup Drive Shower @ 20 lbs. of pressure.
This is the typical pressure most boats see at fast cruise at mid-high
trim angles. Flow is very strong fully covering both sides of the drive.
|
It's
Cool™ Dual Pickup Drive Shower @ 20 lbs. of pressure.
This is the typical pressure most boats see at fast cruise at mid-high
trim angles. Flow is pretty self explanatory here with dual pickups. |
|
|
It's
Cool™ Single Pickup Drive Shower @ 30 lbs. of pressure.
This is the typical pressure most boats see at average cruise with medium
trim. Flow is more than adequate for any length excursion you care to
tackle. We did see pressure reading over 30 lbs on some boats but didn't
feel the need post photos at that pressure. |
It's
Cool™ Dual Pickup Drive Shower @ 30 lbs. of pressure.
This is the typical pressure most boats see at average cruise with medium
trim. The flow with the dual pickups is just massive, again twice as much
water as with the single pickup model. We recommend the dual model for
extreme performance applications that may see high trim angles for extended
periods. |
Remember,
if your present shower isn't covering the sides of the
drive with water as the above pictures of the It's Cool™ Drive Shower,
you're not getting maximum cooling of your drive unit.
________________________________________________________
The above photos
illustrate water delivery at 10 pounds of pressure from
a typical top dump type drive shower and on the bottom, the Rex Marine
It's Cool™ Drive Shower. The flow down the sides of the It's Cool™
Drive
Shower is critical for maximum cooling of the drive unit. Also the small holes
typical of some drive showers in the top photos are prone to clog with weeds,
debris, and barnacles with no effective way to clean them. Once clogged with
foreign material they are effectively a drive ornament. The outlet holes in
the
It's Cool™ spray bars are 5/16" diameter which are not likely to
plug and are
easily cleaned if they do get a large piece of debris.
